While we were at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2023, we were able to take a look at the upcoming Dodge Hornet. Based on the Alfa Romeo Tonale (which also will be available in the U.S.), the AWD Hornet is a subcompact crossover that will fill a slot in the Dodge lineup that has been vacant for a few years. If you’ve been keeping up with the news of this vehicle, this latest update features the pricing for the Hornet GT and Hornet R/T.
As the “Industry’s Quickest, Fastest, and Most Powerful Utility Vehicle Under $30,000,” the entry-level Hornet GT will hit the street this coming spring starting at $31,590. It comes standard with 268-horsepower 2.0-liter Hurricane4 turbo, cloth seats, 10.25-inch touchscreen, rain-sensing wipers, 17-inch wheels and more. You can opt for several packages to upgrade your Hornet:
- The $2,995 Track Pack will give you Alcantara seats, 20 x 8-inch J Abyss aluminum wheels, red calipers, bright pedals, dual-mode suspension, leather steering wheel and aluminum door sills.
- Like blackout trim? The $1,995 Blacktop Package may be for you. Besides dark GT and Hornet badges, you’ll get blackened 18 x 7.5-inch J Abyss wheels and gloss black painted mirror caps.
- If safety tech is your thing, the $2,245 Tech Pack without Parallel & Perp Park Assist should pique your interest. It comes with Active Driving Assist system, Drowsy Driver Detection, Intelligent Speed Assist, ParkSense front and rear park-assist with stop, and Surround-view camera system.
- For those up north, the Cold Weather Group will net you heated front seats and steering wheel, plus remote-start system for $495.
You can also move up to the GT Plus for $35,490. These are the extras it receives over the base GT:
- More elaborate LED lighting system, including fog lamps
- Premium leather interior including heated and cooling elements for the two buckets up front
- Navigation system
- Harman Kardon premium audio system
- Power sunroof
Then there’s the Hornet R/T which, according to Car and Driver, will start at $41,590. It’s a “PHEV” plug-in hybrid offering 288 horses with the ability to drive 30 miles of all-electric driving, though a 0-60 sprint in 6.1 seconds seems more interesting. Pay $5,000 more for the R/T Plus and it mimics the upgrade available for the GT Plus.
The Hornet GT is currently available for ordering. Orders will open for the Hornet R/T in a few months.
