McCall’s Jet Center soiree helped kick off Monterey Car Week on Thursday night. It was a gathering for classic car lovers with aircraft and fighter jets as the backdrop.
Gordon and Molly McCall organized and hosted the event for the previous 31 years and saw the likes of Phil Hill, Dan Gurney, Peter Brock, Reggie Jackson, Danica Patrick, and Adam Carolla making appearances.
The cars are the stars of Monterey Car Week and starting this year the McCall Motorworks Revival was hosted by Hagerty and renamed Motorlux. In August 2021, Hagerty acquired the McCall Motorworks Revival with the intention to host “a luxury car show, aircraft show, culinary specialties, and a chance to preview the vintage and classic cars that will be on display at the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.”
Hagerty has partnered with McCall’s Revival for 20 years and will now attempt to carry on the tradition of the former McCall Motorworks Revival. Gordon and Molly McCall will remain involved as advisors and consultants.
The Broad Arrow Monterey Jet Center Auction was added to the festivities this year. Also held at the Jet Center, the auction featured about 90 vintage classics, including a 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K Sindelfingen Speziar Roadster, and a 1957 Ferraro 250 GT LWB Berlinetta.
