With Dodge’s recent announcement for the final V8 Challenger and Charger models for 2023, it’s the end of an era. It almost feels like 1970 because, the following year, General Motors lowered compression in 1971, and Ford and Chrysler joined in 1972.
So what is your favorite car from the beginning of the dark ages?
1971 Chevrolet Chevelle
1971 torino
We’re talking about the advent of the low-compression years, so I’d say from a Ford POV you’d have to consider 1972s.

The 1972 El Camino SS 454 was the best car and truck (Cruck) by far.

1971 – 1972 Buick Centurion 2 door convertible. The lines on that car are great with a 455 and a ride that was/is awesome. I happened to pick one up 3 years ago and fully restored it with minor updates to A/C and stereo. Other than that, it’s original and beautiful.

1971 mustang convertible. Great driver, and just a good looking car.

WOW! I forgot about those. Very sharp german/ ford. Those used to rip with dual webers along with good economy during the first gas crunch. Mercury for the win!
