A trio of unique vehicles on Barrett-Jackson’s Friday Docket

A preview of some unique offerings on today's docket

-

Perusing Barrett-Jackson’s Friday docket I came across some unique vehicles. Beyond the restomods, matching-numbers originals and rarities there are cars available on Friday that have their own segment and they always catch my eye.

The Boaterhome: Half boat and half van. The custom 1987 Ford E350 van has a heavily modified rear end that allows a boat to be seamlessly integrated into it. In this road & sea concoction you get your boat without an annoying trailer to haul behind your van.

The boat aspect of this double feature is a 1986 Sport King 28-foot Cabin Cruiser featuring fiberglass construction with a modified V hull powered by a Mercury Cruiser 350/260hp inboard/outboard engine. The Boaterhome has been featured in Ridiculous Rides, Street Muscle Magazine, YouTube and a Little Caesar commercial.

This 1961 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Rampside custom pickup is an interesting project that went from a truck to a fully integrated RV with room for the family.

Starting life as a Corvair Rampside truck but now has sleeping accommodations, a sink, an icebox, a cooktop with an oven, and a dining table with booths. It’s powered by an air-cooled 6-cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It’s a truly unique vehicle and a great RV for weekend camping.

I spent a lot of time in my formative years watching reruns and a constant part of my upbringing was Starsky and Hutch. I still love buddy cop shows, but Starsky and Hutch is my favorite and is probably the G.O.A.T.

Like many TV shows the hero’s vehicle is also a star, think James Garner’s Firebird in The Rockford Files, and a certain muscle car is no different. Starsky & Hutch rolled in a 1976 Ford Torino finished in bright red with a prominent white stripe. The car wasn’t stealthy when fighting crime but it had plenty of space for a Kojak light during car chases.

The one offered on Friday’s docket is powered by a 351ci Windsor V8 featuring Holley Sniper fuel injection, which should provide enough horsepower for a proper car chase.

Barrett-Jackson is offering these three vehicles with No Reserve at the 2022 Las Vegas Auction, held June 30 to July 2 in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
