Citing inspiration from the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance and its founder, Bruce Meyer, and from clothing designer and car collector Ralph Lauren and his 2011 Western Collection, and from Texan and collector Phillip Sarofim, Ruf Automobile GmbH has unveiled the Ruf Rodeo Concept, the German tuner’s idea for an off-roading Porsche 911.
Ruf, which also showed the first production Ruf SCR in an event at its headquarters in Pfaffenhausen, Germany, claims the Rodeo is the first off-road car built utilizing a carbon fiber monocoque chassis. The SCR also has a carbon monocoque chassis, but in the case of the Rodeo, there is a four-wheel-drive powertrain, longer-travel suspension, larger and all-terrain tires, and other equipment for driving off pavement.

“The Rodeo concept combines (our) passion for cars with the love of western culture — an appreciation I found while studying in Oklahoma, USA,” Estonia Ruf, the company’s marketing manager, is quoted in a Ruf (pronounced “roof”) news release.
“This car was inspired by some of our favorite people and our love for the countryside.”
Ruf Automobile GmbH traces to 1939, when Alois Ruf Sr. established a general automotive service garage. He added a gas station in 1949. In 1955, he started producing tourist buses and in 1963 started specializing in tuning Porsches.
Since this thing is a fashion statement only, stupid waste of effort.

I think that cars like the Ruf Rodeo have an important place in the automotive landscape. Like other similar concepts they help us to identify people with more money than sense and/or taste.
