Sale features health-safety precautions, more than $4 million in transactions

The live collector car auction action resumed in California in late November with McCormick’s fall sale in Palm Springs. The auction posted $4.226 million in sales with a 61 percent sell-through rate.

McCormick’s reports that it limited attendance to 2,000 people at any given time at the open-air site and employed six health and safety workers to assure temperature checks and social distancing, that all present were wearing protective masks, and that hand-sanitizer stations were appropriately stationed.

  1. I was at the Auction and you have to give the McCormicks A for effort and bravery just for having the “Guts” for putting this event on. While it was not as big as their regular auction(s) at least they were able to pull it off without a hitch.
    Well done McCormick Family !

  2. I sold a car at the McCormick auction and got what I considered a fair value especially given the circumstances. The event was put on with appropriate Covid controls throughout the tent and outside viewing area. Although my friend and I are considered “at risk”, we both felt quite safe. I also applaud the City of Palm Springs for allowing this traditional event to be held. I believe the term “cautious but not paranoid” applied and hopefully the February event will also be allowed.
