Beautiful car, but where do you get a period correct 454 when the engine didn’t come out til ’70?
Definitely not my favorite color and I detest vinyl tops, but nevertheless, it’s a nice ’65 which I’d my favorite year.
This color makes the Impala desirable among collectors. Ditto the same color for Pontiacs.
Russ is correct 70 was the first year for the 454
TH350 also not available in 65!
I had a 65 Impala, yellow black interior with a 283. I finally put a 327 with a 4 barrel Rochester. Loved that car. It wasn’t fast but it wasn’t slow by no means. Traded it for a 67 fastback 289 4 speed. That was my favorite car of all. O what I would give if I still had them back.
Also noted, the rear trunk and corner pieces trim is from just an Impala, the Super Sport had black trim pieces on the rear, not aluminum colored. Still a beautiful car but most SS cars didn’t come with a vinyl top. My favorite 65 color.
I would like to know the born with power train history of this car. Was it an original big block 396 car?
You need to reach out to the seller of the car to find out. Follow the links in the story.
Drivetrain not original obviously, this would be a real find if it were a “409” car!, the last year for that option.
My first new car was a 65 SS
It came with a 327 w/4 speed,
Teal color and white interior.
Window sticker was $3,510.00
I wish I had it today.
allready over bid
The trim on the back suggests that’s it’s a clone
The pedigree of a vehicle is tied to the VIN or invoice, not a piece of trim.
A 454 engine never came in a 65 Impala the best they had was a 396 and didn’t have a 427 until 1966
This wouldn’t be the first car to have an engine that wasn’t original to the vehicle.
