Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1966 Ford Mustang GT coupe that has been in the same family for the past 17 years. It is powered by a rebuilt 289cid V8 paired with a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes styled steel wheels, Décor interior, woodgrain steering wheel, and factory under-dash air conditioning system. Finished in turquoise with white vinyl top over a matching vinyl interior, this Mustang GT includes receipts, a shop manual, original parts, and clear title in the seller’s name.
In 2006, the body was resprayed in the original Tahoe Turquoise (code U) hue. Features include white GT stripes, GT fog lamps, dual side mirrors, and newer dual exhaust system that exits through the GT rear valence.
Styled steel 14-inch wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich whitewall tires.
The interior is fitted with two-tone Light Aqua and White Décor (code 67A) vinyl interior with front bucket seats. The 225-horsepower 289 small-block (A-code) was rebuilt in 2004 under prior ownership. It is equipped with 1967 valve covers, newer roller rockers, and a newer four-barrel carburetor and intake. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission that received new seals, gaskets, synchro rings, bearings, and clutch in 2019.
The chassis has been upgraded with KYB shock absorbers. Other tweaks over the past few years include replacement front springs, lower control arms, shackles, strut rod bushings, insulators, and rear leaf springs. The braking system uses an upgraded dual-circuit master cylinder.
The sale includes receipts dating back to 1981 and original parts that include a four-barrel carburetor and intake.
