Pick of the Day: 2014 Ford F-250 Excursion

The custom SUV you've been looking for

-

A 2024 Lincoln Navigator, which shares a platform with the Ford Expedition, starts at a lofty $84,660 retail. It is the largest sport-utility vehicle offered from Ford currently, and it comes with generous cargo-carrying room and three-row seating. A high-trim “Black Label” Navigator will set you back $110,750.

For about the same money, you could get an even larger three-row luxo-ute that is bound to turn heads everywhere it goes. It’s a one-off custom from CABT (Custom Autos By Tim) in Oklahoma.

The Pick of the Day is custom 2014 Ford F-250 Super Duty Lariat listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Sunset, South Carolina. (Click the link to view the listing)

Ford’s “real” Excursion has been gone since model year 2005 – almost 20 years now. It was a Class 2 heavy-duty fully-sized sport-utility vehicle and it slotted above the Expedition. When it launched in 2000, it targeted the 2500-series Chevrolet Suburban and the GMC Yukon XL for a share of the big-people-mover market segment. The sheer size of the vehicle led to it receiving some criticism, but over 195,000 units were sold over the course of six model years, so the reception was reasonably warm.

The dealer explains what makes this custom SUV so special: “What sets this F-250 Super Duty apart is its remarkable conversion into a spacious three-row SUV reminiscent of the iconic Ford Excursion,” the selling dealer states. “The transformation was skillfully executed by CABT in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Extensive fabrication goes into making this Excursion feel like Ford never discontinued them, with thoughtful details like a working rear wiper, vent windows, and a high-mount brake light.”

As one would imagine, creating a show-level custom build takes effort, and this F-250 left no stone unturned: The listing says that within the last year, the vehicle received Bilstein shock absorbers, Roush SD wheels with 34-inch Michelin tires, ceramic window tint, LED headlights, color-matched bumpers, and an auxiliary LED light bar. Along the lines of luxury, the build comes with power-adjustable tow mirrors, a moonroof, leather seats, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, SYNC infotainment, and a Sony audio system.

The 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 will undoubtedly carry the family, as well as tow a boat, a trailer, and whatever else might be hooked onto the rear end.

The asking price is $119,000 or best offer for this massive hauler. Would you rather drive this or a new Navigator Black Label?

  1. At the end of the day the navigator is a people hauler, designed for comfort from the suspension and up while the pickup is still a pickup truck.

  2. It’s about time you picked a good vehicle It has a 6.8 , V10 gasoline. I think I have a 2003. Ford, F250 Trident , lariot 4 wheel drive and it’s the best truck ever owned. It has 228000 miles. Then it runs so strong but I change the oil every 2 months. But that is a beautiful rig you show in this picture.
