Influential Automobiles: Drive the Bid Podcast

Our ruminations of automotive pioneers

-

Some cars just have that certain something that sets the tone for the future. Maybe it’s styling, or the headlight design, or which wheels drive the vehicle. I think the Citroen DS is a great example of this, but so is the 1983 Audi 100.

Yet neither of those two cars were discussed by “Jalopy Jeff” Sutton, Derek Sheikhi, and I in the below episode of the Drive the Bid podcast from AutoHunter.com. In fact, when we planned the topic, we allowed a wide berth on what “influential” really means, which is the beauty of how we arrived at the cars we chose.

Other discussions include news on the just-announced Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, Amelia Earhart’s Cord, and a new Lotus GT called the Emeya.

Of course, each of us picked our current faves on AutoHunter, including an LS3-powered 1998 Corvette convertible, 1960 Plymouth Fury convertible, and a very interesting 1969 Datsun 2000 roadster.

All this and more can be seen in the above video from AutoHunter Cinema, created by the experts behind ClassicCars.com, the world’s largest online collector car marketplace. AutoHunter brings forth a dedicated live customer support team, quicker auction listings and exclusive benefits for both buyers and sellers.

Lead Writer Diego Rosenberg is a native of Wilmington, Delaware and Princeton, New Jersey, giving him plenty of exposure to the charms of Carlisle and Englishtown. Though his first love is Citroen, he fell for muscle cars after being seduced by 1950s finned flyers—in fact, he’s written two books on American muscle. But please don’t think there is a strong American bias because foreign weirdness is never far from his heart. With a penchant for underground music from the 1960-70s, Diego and his family reside in the Southwest.
