Finished in a green metallic and white two-tone exterior theme, this well-kept F-Series has been upgraded with 32-inch tires, slotted polished-aluminum wheels and a vinyl tonneau cover to complete the overall look. It receives power from a 360cid V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission and has lived long-term in the Pacific Northwest. The truck is being offered on AutoHunter by Affordable Classics in Oregon, and time is of the essence, since the week-long auction ends on Tuesday, August 22.
Included in the listing for this F-Series is a build sheet from the factory. It states along the top, “The Closer You Look, the Better We Look.” That slogan seems to hold true with this truck, since its appeal is much more than meets the eye. Included in the list of equipment are voltage and oil pressure gauges, a reduced sound level exhaust system, power steering, body side moldings, a sliding rear window, and “Custom Décor.”
The warranty identification card that came with the truck states that it was sold new on August 18, 1975, to its first owner from Leavenworth, Washington, so it has likely resided in the Pacific Northwest since new. The original selling dealer was John Clark Ford Sales in Cashmere, Washington. The odometer shows about 88,000 miles, but true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The F-Series lineup has been known for its capability for three-quarters of a century: This beloved line of trucks that dates back 75 years in American history. This one comes from the sixth generation, which took on the nickname “dentside” among enthusiasts. The generation lasted between 1973 and 1979 and became incredibly successful in the marketplace. In fact, it was this body style of Ford truck that took the title of best-selling pickup in the country in 1977. The F-Series has held that title ever since.
Power for this workhorse comes from a 360cid FE V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. This combo was good for 143 horsepower, which by today’s standards doesn’t sound like much. but clearly it was good enough to put in work for thousands of American buyers in the late 1970s.
