Corvette power, a coilover suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and 20-inch wheels are only the beginning of the equipment list that comes with a very custom Chevrolet wagon from the 1950s.

“This car is a true driver and has been enjoyed for 18,000 miles,” the listing begins. “Countless hours of work went into this car, inside and out.”
This custom tri-five “handyman” wagon is a far cry from its original form during assembly in 1957. Updates to the build started with the installation of a CPP Pro-Touring suspension package combined with QA1 coilovers for optimized handling. From there, the car received enhancements to the powertrain, wheel and tire setup, interior, brake system, and much more.
The big news is what’s going on under the hood, where a 1996 Corvette motor has been transplanted and subsequently upgraded. The seller has added a “hot cam,” and all that power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4L60 four-speed automatic transmission. The interior is similarly tricked-out and offers amenities like power steering, a Vintage Air climate control system, a stereo system, tinted windows, AutoMeter gauges, and cruise control. The seller states that the overall build represents a $130,000 investment, which is believable when you look at the level of detail in all the equipment.
Perhaps the best attribute of this car is its versatility: The rear cargo area is a cavernous place to house furniture, supplies, recreation toys, and anything else along the way. This car was referred to as a “handyman” for good reason. It is akin to modern-day hatchbacks and crossovers with its utility. Not to mention, it will get where you need to go quickly and with way more style than a modern-day vehicle.
“If you are looking for something you can drive comfortably across the country, this is it,” the seller states. The car is available for pick-up in Cavalier, North Dakota.
The asking price is $75,500 USD for this souped-up 150 wagon, which is only a portion of what it reportedly cost to build.
