Pick of the Day: 1992 Cadillac Sedan deVille

Upgrade from your Chevy today

-

In 1977, Billy Joel released the hit song “Movin’ Out,” and one of the catchiest phrases in the lyrics was, “Yeah, and he’s tradin’ in his Chevy for a Cadillac-ac-ac-ac-ac-ac, you oughta know by now…” Perhaps one of our readers would like to trade out his or her Chevy for this cherry Cadillac.

The Pick of the Day is a 1992 Cadillac Sedan deVille listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Williamsburg, Michigan. (Click the link to view the listing)

“Very rare find, black-on-black Sedan deVille,” the listing states. “Same owner since 2004. Pride of ownership shows throughout.”

The deVille name goes back many decades with the Cadillac brand. It was first used as a trim designation in 1949 on the Series 62 and subsequently evolved through eight different generations. The nameplate went defunct after 2005, although the “DTS” model was technically its replacement. This car comes from the sixth generation which was introduced in 1985 on the General Motors C-body platform. This car was scaled back size-wise and thus became more fuel efficient than its predecessor. One of the most notable changes was the shift to a front-wheel drive layout.

The car looks exceptional in the images and video, especially for three-decade-old car in Michigan. The listing notes that a couple of aspects of the car are non-original: The entire car was repainted in 2006, and the grille is from a 1993 model car (a 1992 grille is included with the sale). There are a number of mechanical and equipment notes in the listing. Among them, the speakers have been replaced, a power sunroof was added, the air conditioning has been converted, the windshield was replaced, and the fuel system received a new tank and lines about eight years ago. The Vogue tires were also replaced in 2021.

Power for this luxo-sedan comes from a 4.9-liter V8 that was rated at 200 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is transferred rearward through a column-shifted four-speed automatic transaxle. The all-digital dash provides a fuel data center, a fuel gauge, automatic climate control, and a trip meter. The odometer reads 112,663, which is a relatively low reading for a car that’s 31 years old.

“Car looks like new and rides like a dream!” the listing concludes. The asking price is $12,900 or best offer for this deVille. Maybe check and see if the seller will take a Chevy on trade?
