AutoHunter Spotlight: 1969 Camaro Z/28

Yellow houndstooth interior makes this Chevy truly special

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. This vehicle features a numbers-matching Turbo-Fire 302ci V8 paired with a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear end. Equipment includes an air induction hood, front and rear spoilers, and center console. Finished in Daytona Yellow with black vinyl top over yellow houndstooth interior, this Z is now offered with certificate of authenticity from Jerry MacNeish plus other forms of documentation, owner’s booklets, service and shop manuals, and a clear Delaware title in the seller’s name.

The Daytona Yellow exterior finish is consistent with the car’s data plate. Features include the standard Z/28 stripes in black, ZL2 Cowl Induction hood, D80 spoiler package, black vinyl roof, dual side mirrors, VE3 colored front bumper, and rear bumper guards.

Fifteen-inch Rally wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in 215/60 front and 235/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

This Z/28 features the Z87 Custom Interior furnished in yellow vinyl and houndstooth seats, and yellow door panels. Amenities include center console, simulated woodgrain trim, push-button AM/FM radio, tinted glass and tilt steering column.

Instrumentation includes 120-mph speedometer, 8,000-rpm tachometer, clock, and additional gauges as part of the U17 Special Instrumentation package, which also included console-mounted gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, fuel level and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 1,293 miles, which the seller believes reflects 101,293 actual miles.

The Turbo-Fire 302 has been verified as numbers-matching by Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance LLC, with the report stating that the water pump, fuel pump, spark plug wires and various other components have been replaced; the headers are also not original to the car. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a close-ratio M21 four-speed manual, with the 12-bolt Positraction rear featuring 3.73 gears.

Both the steering, and front discs and rear drums are power-assisted.

The sale includes certificate of authenticity from Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance LLC, National Corvette Restorers Society Shipping Data Report, appraisal from International Automotive Appraisers Association, and assorted booklets and manuals.

Bidding for this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 ends on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. (MST)

  1. When I ordered my 1969 vette; they had a Z-28 on the showroom floor and I kept looking over my shoulder at it..truly beautiful.

  2. I have a similar car and mine has Daytona yellow houndstooth interior also. This is not a custom interior but was offered by GM as an option only in 69. According to them less than 5% were manufactured with the deluxe yellow houndstooth interior. It was designated by 714 on the firewall plate. It also came stock with black vinyl top. Extremely rare car.
