From the photos, you’d think this classic Ford truck was nicely restored and it is! But that’s not the only thing that makes this Apollo-era steel on wheels stand out. For that, you’d have to open the hood. Underneath the all-American alloy of iron and carbon covering the fenders is an early ’60s 427ci Top Oiler FE big-block topped with dual four-barrel carburetors and dishing out somewhere in the neighborhood of 450 hp. These engines were used in many racing applications in the ’60s including the Shelby 427 Cobra S/C.

Here’s more details on the restoration. The exterior color is Rangoon Red, a Ford color, which was extremely popular during the ’60s and into the ’70s. The undercarriage is nicely detailed and a Ford 9-inch differential with street gearing spins Goodyear Eagle GT radials mounted on period-correct 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels. Chrome is excellent as are the tall F-O-R-D letters spelled out on the tailgate. The painted bed looks brand new.
Inside the classic old-school cab, the seating was reupholstered in black cloth/vinyl, custom door cards were installed and a padded dash holds a full complement of factory gauges along with a tachometer to remind you of your engine’s redline. Sounds are provided by a resto-styled AM/FM unit.
