Martin Auto Museum opens in Glendale

The Martin Auto Museum has opened its new home in Glendale, Arizona. Mel Martin, the museum’s founder and owner, was surrounded by his family, friends and local collector car enthusiasts for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new museum location, which features more than 140 vehicles.

“It’s a lifelong dream to have all the cars in one place and I have my lovely wife and family all here,” said Martin. “What else can you want?”

In 2008 the Martin Auto Museum was opened in a commercial building off interstate 17 in Phoenix. Martin had begun collecting cars in the 1960s and the real estate developer from Mayer, Arizona, used his own collection to start the non-profit museum.

In its new and much larger location, the museum houses a wide variety of collectible vehicles, an extensive collection of antique gas pumps, automotive memorabilia, signs, and a full-size vintage carousel.

Monica Yelin, outreach director for Congresswoman Debbie Leski, was on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the museum to the 8^th Congressional district.

“We’d like to recognize Martin’s Auto Museum for being part of our community,” Yelin said. “Businesses like yours are the backbone of our economy and provide much needed employment, products and services to the great people that live in our community.”
