Aston Martin plans 007 movie-inspired limited-edition models

Q to do ‘The Living Daylights’ V8s and ‘No Time To Die’ DBS Superleggera specials

-

Aston Martin plans to produce series of limited-production 007 Edition sports cars to celebrate the release of No Time To Die, the 25th movie in the James Bond film series. The cars are an Aston Martin V8 inspired by The Living Daylights and a DBS Superleggera in tribute to the new 007 flick.

Also in the works are 007 Edition DB5 and Valhalla models.

The cars will be produced by the Q by Aston Martin division of the British automaker and are being done in collaboration with EON Productions. Q refers to the master gadget maker in the movies who outfitted 007 with his array of spy equipment and car-mounted trickery.

The first in the new series will be 100 of the Vantage 007 Edition cars, inspired by the Aston Martin V8 that debuted in The Living Daylights movie in 1987, and also is featured in No Time to Die

“Building on the formidable sporting style and aggressive performance of the regular Vantage, the new car features unique exterior styling treatments led by a bespoke mesh grille with chrome bezel that references the look of the brand’s classic V8,” the automaker said in its announcement.

“Further styling details include a dashed yellow diffuser inspired by the hazard stripes on the film car’s rockets. The Vantage 007 Edition can even be delivered with a set of The Living Daylights -inspired limited edition skis and ski rack – referencing the ‘winterized’ V8 saloon from the film.”

The cars will wear Cumberland Grey exterior paint, with obsidian black leather and dark chrome interiors with special 007 branding.

In addition, sun visors will carry another film reference, in the shape of an embroidered radio station frequency – 96.60 (FM) – the Russian police frequency Bond used to aid his escape in The Living Daylights.

The cars’ seats also will have an outline of the cello “f holes” like those from the chase scene featuring Bond (Timothy Dalton) and Kara Milovy (Maryam D’Abo).

Among the options available is a laser-etched gadget plaque that references the various weapons and devices seen on the original film car, including rocket motor, missiles, lasers, a targeting display and ski outriggers. Cross hairs etched onto the car’s paddle-shift gear levers allude to the missile guidance system seen in the film.

Second in the production line will be the 007 Edition DBS Superleggera, with only 25 available. The cars will be done in Ceramic Grey paint with roof, mirror caps, splitter, diffuser and rear Aeroblade II in black tinted carbon fiber.

The cars get special gloss-black, diamond-turned Y-spoke 21-inch wheels, 007 fender badging and an 007 emblem on the rear spoiler blade.

The interior is dark with red details and 007 branding.

Suggested retail pricing will be £161,000 ($211,000) for the 007 Edition Vantage and £279,025 ($365,500) for the DBS Superleggera 007 Edition. Deliveries begin in the first quarter of 2021, Aston Martin added.
