The Lamborghini Museum — officially the Lamborghini Museum of Technologies, or MUDETEC — in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, has re-opened, albeit with new safety regulations regarding social distancing.
The museum was renamed in April 2019 as MUDETEC in part because of the presentation inside of “innovations and examples of excellence that have revolutionized not only Lamborghini but the entire automotive panorama, creating new concepts and laying foundations for future technologies,” the museum notes in its re-opening announcement.
“Visitors will gain an insight into Lamborghini’s values and discover its most iconic and revolutionary masterpieces, the result of the major contribution and ongoing investment by Automobili Lamborghini in research and development. Pioneering and innovative by tradition, Lamborghini has always looked to the future, with an eye on the design and technology of tomorrow.”
Vehicles such as the 350 GT, Miura, Countach and LM002 are on display, as are more recent cars and concepts. Also featured at the re-opening is a display of work produced during the Young Architects Competitions.
Meanwhile, several pieces from the MUDETEC collection will be on display at the Cite de l’Automobile in Mulhouse, Alsace, France, which is featuring Automobili Lamborghini through January 10, 2021.
Canadian Automotive Museum re-opens
The Canadian Automotive Museum in Oshawa, Ontario, is scheduled to re-open July 17, though tickets must be purchased in advance and guests will be required to wear protective masks and practice social distancing.
While the museum was closed, staffers were busy with upgrades to the Glenn H. Baechler Canadian Automotive Research Library in an effort to turn it into “a world-class research facility.”
As the museum re-opens, its featured exhibit is “McLaughlin and Buick 1905-1918 and how, after his failed attempt to produce his own vehicle, Sam McLaughlin did a deal to build Buicks in Oshawa, thus finally launching The McLaughlin Motor Car Company, which started producing Chevrolet vehicles for Canada and elsewhere in the British Empire in 1915.

The Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival joins with the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum to present a live Facebook tour of the museum’s new Out of Quarantine exhibit via Facebook at 11 a.m. (Eastern) on July 17.
The ACD Museum alsohosts the first of three free Duesies & Movies nights on July 18. The drive-in format will take place in the museum’s Education and Events Plaza with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang showing at sunset.
Later in the summer, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom will be shown on August 15 and Amelia on September 19.
The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan, hosts “Volvos at the Gilmore VIII” on July 18 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and an All-German Cruise-in from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. the same day. Then, on July 19, it’s the third annual “Corvette Envy” show from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., featuring a display of more than 300 Chevrolet sports cars plus a Corvette swap meet.
Autobooks-Aerobooks in Burbank, California, will host a book signing from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on July 18 with Chris Pook, founder of the Long Beach Grand Prix. Pook will autograph copies of the book, Chris Pook & the History of the Long Beach GP, written by Gordon Kirby.
The restored and correctly liveried tub of the Lotus 29/1 driven by Dan Gurney in the 1963 Indianapolis 500 remains on display at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum through July 19. The car then goes back to the restoration shop for the installation of its engine and other components.
The Kansas City Automotive Museum and the National WWI Museum and Memorial will co-host the fourth annual The Great Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 19. More than 200 vehicles will be on display at the WW1 Museum in KC, Missouri.

The RV/MH Hall of Fame (that’s RV/MH as in Recreation Vehicle/Motor Home) in Elkhart, Indiana, holds its Hall of Fame induction ceremony on August 3.
Youngsters ages 5-13 can take part in the Porsche Museum’s annual “Car Factory” summer program August 4-23 in Stuttgart, Germany. The program is offered in German and English and offered insight to automobile production.
The British Motor Museum at Gaydon hosts an electric vehicles festival car show on August 8 and a classics and vintage commercial vehicle show on August 8-9.
The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan, hosts the “Air Cooled Gathering” car show from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on August 8.
