I medically retired in 2011 due to having a pacemaker/defibrillator installed which caused My CDL license to be taken away. So I was looking at classic cars on the internet when I spotted this 1964 Buick Riviera. I asked my wife Cathy to take a look, she said her had owned one and she really liked it.
I called the seller to make an appointment to inspect the car. My wife and I drove the 60 miles to meet Phillip and his wife.
The Buick was a one-family-owned car bought new in Gardena, California, by the Reese family, Phillip’s uncle and aunt. Mr. Reese died one year later and Mrs. Reese didn’t drive, so the car was parked in the family garage with 27,000 miles on it.
It remained there until 1995 when Phillip inherited the car. He brought the car to Texas, where he began sorting and repairing the car. The 425cid engine was frozen, the headliner was drooping and it needed a deep cleaning.
Phillip didn’t like the color (Coral Mist), so he had it painted blue. He had the engine rebuilt but added an Edelbrock carburetor, higher-lift cam and dual exhaust with cherry-bomb mufflers which gives a really nice sound.
I bought the car and trailered it home. I immediately ordered an original-style carburetor and air cleaner housing for it. I’ve also put on new brakes, strut-rod bushings and motor mounts.
I take it to coffee and visits, and occasional shows.

This care brings back a lot of memories! When I was growing up my dad had a 1963 Buick Riviera in Glacier Blue. Pretty sure that’s where/when I caught the collectible car bug. One more note – there were three of us kids and if you take a look at the interior photos you’ll notice the bucket seats – not ideal. That metal center bit – which is a speaker caused many an argument as to who got the middle seat. Good times!

Had a 98 Rivera in dark green I wished I kept it sold in 2008. A really nice car.

i had a 1963 Riviera in 1966 when I got out of the Air Force I loved it . Two years ago I bought another one just had it painted fire engine red and a saddle interior put in
I have a 85 buick park avenue that i plan on restoring. It has a 78,480 original miles on it. I am about the third owner of this beautiful car. I love my buicks and plan on buying a few more old school buicks.
