RM Auctions’ South Florida sale will switch to a new location for 2020, moving to the Palm Beach International Raceway after being held for the past several years at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.
The raceway, located near Jupiter, Florida, is a legendary motorsports venue dating back to 1964 that hosts other collector car events, including the Cavallino Classic. RM’s move was prompted by extensive expansion and remodeling work taking place at the convention center, the Canadian-based auction company said in a news release.
“We’re looking forward to building on our many years of success in South Florida at our new Palm Beach venue,” Gord Duff, global head of auctions, RM Sotheby’s Group, said in the news release. “Historically, the Fort Lauderdale auction has grown exponentially in value and quality over the last several years and we are excited to bring this growth and atmosphere to PBIR.
“Our consignors, bidders, and attendees can expect more than 350 quality collector cars offered across a multi-day auction event, at an exciting new destination on our calendar.”
There was no information as to whether the auction will return to the Fort Lauderdale convention center after construction is completed. RM Auctions had its best South Florida results during the March 2019 sale at that location, when the total reached more than $23.2 million with 80 percent of lots sold.
RM Auctions will hold its sale at Palm Beach International Raceway on March 20, 2020. For information, see the auction website.
