More than 500 vintage tractors and 800 signs and “farm relics” will be offered up for bidding November 8-10 at the 2018 Iowa Premier auction staged by Mecum Auctions’ Gone Farmin’ division.
The sale, featuring items from 18 private collections, will be held at the Mississippi Valley Fair Center in Davenport, Iowa.
The featured tractors on the docket are a steam-powered 1902 Case 9-horse traction engine, 1985 International Harvester 7488 that is one of only 16 produced, and a not-quite-vintage but virtually brand new 2008 John Deere 8530.
Also on the docket is “Gator,” 3-year-old Clydesdale gelding being offered by Jim Poole, who for 25 years was manager of the famed Budweiser Clydesdales.
Among the signs and farm relics is a John Deere smalt-painted sign advertising the plows the company made even before it started producing tractors. The sign is autographed on the back by the original painter.
