Barrett-Jackson countdown: 1972 Chevrolet Corvette custom convertible

-

This custom 1972 Chevrolet Corvette convertible — a high-end C3 restomod — has been given the nickname “Speedvette.”

The build took four years to complete. The rust-free stock frame has been powder-coated. RideTech suspension was added, including coilovers at all four corners.

The Speedvette has Baer 6-piston brakes with 14-inch rotors and a ReMaster cylinder.

Under the hood sits a 6.2-liter GM performance LS3 engine capable of making 525 horsepower. That is mated to a 4L70E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission.

The engine has one-off Corvette billet coil covers, a Concept One serpentine pulley system, a Be Cool radiator with dual electric fans and chrome-plated cast headers connected to Chambered muffler sidepipes.

The car sits on 19-inch Schott Venom wheels with Diamondback Redlink Hankook tires.

The body of the Speedvette was slightly modified and includes an LT1 long hood – which is operated and held down by a linear actuator — C6-inspired decklid and waterfall, a smooth firewall kit and 2-inch rear flares.

Inside, the car has a Pro Auto Customer Interiors covered C3/C6-inspired dash and C5 heated seats in red leather, LED-lighted door panels, Daytona weave custom carpet and a black canvas convertible top.

Barrett-Jackson’s annual Las Vegas auction is scheduled for September 27-29 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
