Barrett-Jackson countdown: Custom 1966 Ford Mustang fastback

-

Lot No. 733 is a Ford Mustang that was originally built as a coupe but was later converted into a fastback by Classic Recreations in Yukon, Ohio.

But the conversion was far from the only work this car has had done. Under the hood sits a Coyote Gen II 5.0-liter V8 engine equipped with a Roush TVS supercharger. It has been dyno tested and put out 600 horsepower at the rear wheels.

Other performance goodies include BBK long-tube headers, Borla mufflers, a MSD Pro-Billet distributor and coil and a manual five-speed Tremec transmission.

The custom Mustang also has a modernized suspension complete with Rod & Custom front coilover, Total Control rear coilover and performance sway bars.

The car has aluminum wheels and 13-inch Wilwood Track System brakes up front and Touring System brakes in the back.

Outside, the car was finished in Oxford White with blue Le Mans racing stripes. It has the R-style front valance and Shelby 350GTX graphics, indicating the car has some experimental customizations.

Inside, the Mustang boasts Carroll Shelby SCAT Rally Series 1000 bucket seats, G-Force five-point seat belts, Shelby gauges and numerous other custom touches.

Barrett-Jackson’s annual Las Vegas auction is scheduled for September 27-29 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

  1. I’m interested in bidding for this car. How do I go about being able to bid for this car???? Is there a reserve on this car…??? Please feel free to contact me 973-885-0999Anthony Forino thanks.

  2. That 66 is a very sweet ride – very similar to one I saw on Bring A Trailer about a year ago. Same general local – Ohio – Coyote motor, Tremec, Similar suspension set up, but that car had resto-rod type Hillborn Injection, and Craiger Wheels. I’d prefer this one but I doubt my wife would tolerate another toy. Good luck to the buyer of this Mustang, it looks like a very fun car to cruise in.
