Silverstone Auctions’ annual September Sale will feature a collection of fast Fords, the auction company has announced, with a docket that includes a 2006 Ford GT, a restored 1972 Escort RS 1600, a 1986 Sierra Cosworth Wolf RS500 and a 1990 Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4×4.
The auction is scheduled for September 29 at the Dallas Burston Polo Club in Southam, England.
“Fords have the unique quality of universal appeal, with their popularity stretching from the entry level Escort models all the way to their iconic super car, the GT,” said Harry Whale, classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions.
“Ford’s success and dedication to motor sport has not only filled their trophy cabinet but has delivered a fantastic selection of motorsport derived special editions for enthusiasts. The idea of ‘win on Sunday, sell on Monday’ has never been truer than with Ford.”
The Ford GT is one of only 27 delivered in the United Kingdom, all with left-hand drive, and has been driven slightly more than 5,000 miles, including a trip to Le Mans, the auction company said.
The Sierra RS Cosworth is one of 10 uprated by the Ford Works DTM (German Touring Car series) team, wolf Racing, for the German market. Upgrades include a 300-horsepower engine with racing pistons, wastegate and injectors, as well as lowered suspension, gold DTM-style wheels, RS500 body and interior features and twin exhaust.
The Sapphire 4×4 is one of only six produced. It is a one-owner car driven only 13,310 miles by its now-80-year-old owner.
