Clean original 1985 Toyota pickup

-

After all these years of Pick of the Day, here’s the first time we’ve had a vintage Toyota pickup.  That’s because most Toyota trucks are workhorses, used up long before they can become collector cars.

But take a look at this one, a 1985 Toyota SR5 pickup in sparkling preserved condition and just the way you’d want it: stretch cab, 4X4, 5-speed manual and with just 67,000 miles showing.  Air conditioning and power steering are the icing on this cake.

The 4X4 Toyota is set up for off-road adventure

This looks like a particularly sweet little truck, which the Tucson, Arizona, dealer advertising the Toyota on ClassicCars.com says is all original.  The ‘80s-style graphics package is part of the bone-stock appearance.

The four-wheel-drive system is the straightforward high- and low-range setup, no electronics and worked by a separate shifter next to the gear change.  Manually locking hubs mean you have to get out and maybe get a little dirty on your four-wheeling expedition, but most hard-core off-roaders appreciate such things.

Although, this pickup looks way too nice for any kind of extreme trail driving.  It would be a crying shame to dent or scratch that original exterior.  It also would be a shame to customize the truck with off-road gear.  This is a rarity that should be appreciated for the pristine example that it is.

The Toyota is powered by the bulletproof 2.2-liter 4-cylinder EFI engine, which means the mileage so far is just a pittance.  Trucks and SUVs equipped with these four-bangers are well-known to go way into multiple six-figure mileage without a hiccup.

There’s no information about the pickup’s history, but it’s being offered in dry Arizona is always a good indication of a rust-free existence.

The asking price for this rarely seen, 33-year-old, time-warp Toyota pickup is $19,929.
