Clean 1937 Chevy street rod

The model year 1937 was a great one, stylistically, with so many examples of Art Deco flair colliding with modern industrial style. The Pick of the Day, a clean-looking 1937 Chevrolet Master Deluxe business coupe, has taken the theme and translated it into a distinctive and refined street rod.

With a gleaming black paint job on its essentially stock body, the Chevy is highlighted with red accents and interior, and set off with subdued chrome trim. A beautiful and subtle treatment that appears to have been professionally done.

“The black paint is deep and rich, which makes it great in the sunlight or moonlight,” notes the seller, a Mesa, Arizona, dealer advertising the Chevy on ClassicCars.com. “Plus, it’s a terrific backdrop for the accent color. The red grille is a traditional hot-rodding look that does a great job of establishing a secondary color that’s carried over the rest of the car on the custom red and white pinstriping. Even the wheels and tires fall into this red-and-white theme.”

This coupe was built for cruising and road trips, as well as a strong presence at the local custom car show. The interior has been redone for modern-day comfort and is loaded with such conveniences as air conditioning, power windows and a Kenwood audio system with AM/FM/CD/XM plus USB ports and Bluetooth. The sound flows through Kicker speakers.

“The red-and-black theme continues on the inside, and this stylish setup is used for custom luxury,” the seller adds. “The single bench seat is what a proper business coupe should have, but now it’s upgraded with supple leather and comfortable bolstering. The door panels and steering wheel grip continue this red theme, and even the exterior pinstriping returns on the dash.

“So you get the feeling of a very uniform and thoughtful build.”

Power is provided by a 350cid V8 with “all the right upgrades for performance and comfort,” according to the ad. “It includes a Holley four-barrel carburetor, MSD ignition, billet pulleys, an electric fan, and ceramic-coated shorty headers that feed the rumbling Flowmaster dual exhaust.

“And it wasn’t just the engine bay that was upgraded. As you look at the undercarriage, you’ll spot the Mustang II-style independent front suspension, upgraded rear leaf springs, and front disc brakes. Add in power steering, a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, and newer whitewall tires, and this one is ready to cruise right now!”

All this majesty come at a price, and the dealer is asking $64,995 for the custom Chevy. Still, you probably couldn’t come close to duplicating this great-looking build for that amount.
