NASCAR fans, here’s something that should spark your memories of a thrilling time in stock car racing when the great Richard Petty was blowing their doors off.
The Pick of the Day is a 1971 Dodge Charger that has been decked out just like that ones that Petty drove back in the day. It even comes with Petty’s actual signature on its glove-box door.
Although it looks like it just came off the track at Daytona, this car is street legal with a restored interior, according to the private seller in Sudbury, Ontario, advertising the Charger on ClassicCars.com.
This Charger’s not just for looking, either. It’s powered by a 472cid Hemi-racing V8 built by Ray Barton Racing Engines and dyno’d at 600 horsepower, according to the seller. The engine is coupled with an automatic transmission with Slap Stick shifter. That should make them take notice on track day.
For the uninitiated, Petty is known simply as “The King” in NASCAR racing circles. He holds the title as the most-decorated driver in the history of the series, with a record of more than 200 career wins. At 80, he still makes personal appearances in his signature tall cowboy hat and dark shades.
This rolling homage to The King would be a great accessory for your NASCAR man cave (even if you happen to be a woman), especially since it runs and drives with an appropriate level of performance. You too could be king for a day.
The asking price is $34,885, which includes extra wheels and other parts.
