Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this custom 1953 Ford Ranch wagon. The seller, who owned this wagon for 15 years, completed a restoration that included the installation of new fuel system, exhaust and other hardware. The metallic maroon Ford is powered by a 302ci V8 backed by a C4 automatic transmission. Features include a chopped top, handmade wood trim, several power accessories and a modern stereo system including CD player. This Ranch Wagon is available now from a private seller and comes with a clear Montana title in the late owner’s name.
The restoration was completed two years ago and included new metallic maroon paint. Other features include chrome bumpers, custom chrome grille, frenched headlights, shaved hood with rounded hood corners, fender-mounted antenna and dual mirrors. Additional features include handmade ash wood trim with mahogany veneer inserts, black vinyl top, single-pane quarter windows, shaved fuel filler, molded rear wheel skirts, a 1.5-inch roof chop, and dual taillights with fuel filler hidden behind the left taillight. The seller states there is a dent on the hood and a chip in the wood near the door frame.
A set of chrome wire wheels is wrapped in whitewall bias-ply-look radials.
The front and rear seats, door panels and trim are upholstered in tan vinyl. Interior features include brown carpeting, tan headliner, Lokar floor-mounted automatic shifter, metallic maroon steel dashboard, AM/FM/CD stereo, and power windows, steering and brakes.
A 90-mph speedometer, clock, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature and voltage are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 63,977 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
Power is provided by the proven 302ci V8 with a C4 3-speed automatic handling shifting chores. Underhood features include chrome valve covers and air cleaner, carburetor and electronic ignition. The seller states that oil and fluids were replaced just over two years ago.
The chassis has been upgraded with a Fat Man front clip with an independent suspension and solid rear axle. A new fuel tank, electric fuel pump, and new dual-exhaust system including mufflers were installed during the restoration. Braking is provided by power front disc brakes with drums out back.
