After the 240Z, 260Z and 280Z sports cars, for 1979 Datsun introduced the new 280ZX. This new model had a more luxurious interior, but it also came with 4-wheel disc brakes. For the 1984 model year, the ZX got a new engine, becoming the first Japanese car powered by a V6 rather than an inline 6-cylinder.
The car also got new body styling and one of them, a 1984 Nissan 300 ZX 50th Anniversary edition is the Pick of the Day. It is being advertised on ClassicCars.com by a dealership in Philadelphia.
In addition to equipping the 300 ZX with a V6, Nissan offered the 3.0-liter powerplant in normally aspirated or turbocharged versions, one rated at 160 horsepower and the other boosted to 200 horsepower.
The Pick of the Day, which wears both Nissan and Datsun badges, has the turbocharged engine linked to 4-speed automatic transmission.
“This 1984 Nissan 300 ZX is powered by a 3.0L MPI V6 engine backed by an automatic transmission. The 1984 300ZX 50th Anniversary Edition, released to celebrate the automaker’s half-century, was a turbocharged coupe (two-seater) model with a Silver/Black color scheme.
“The only option available to the 50th Anniversary Edition was the choice between an automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission,” the dealership notes in the advertisement.
“All 50th Anniversary Edition (cars) came equipped with a digital dash and ancillary gauges including average mileage, G-force, and compass readouts, in-car electronic adjustable shocks, Bodysonic speakers in the seats, cruise and radio controls in the steering wheel, mirrored t-tops, embroidered leather seats, embroidered floor mats, sixteen-inch (406 mm) aluminum wheels, rear fender flares, flared front fenders, a 50th AE logo badge on the driver’s side front fender, and grey cloth indoor car cover with 50AE printing.”
The dealer adds that Nissan produced 5,148 anniversary cars for the US market and 300 for Canada.
“This 1986 Nissan 300 ZX was garage kept and always well maintained and it shows,” the dealer adds. “This classic is stunning in Gray with black leather interior that is in like new condition. The 300 ZX will attract attention where ever you go be it your local car cruise or just driving down the street.”
This “time capsule” vehicle has T-tops and air conditioning, as well as AM/FM/cassette audio, cruise control, leather power seats, power locks and windows and rides on factory wheels with radial tires.
It is being offered for $26,000.

How is the fuel and electrical system. How ok’d is the starter? Has it been in many or any accidents?
Thank you
How many miles on the car?
Those years were the ugliest inside and out of all the Z cars. They are not worth the price of junk….

How can it be 50 years for a a 1984 vehicle? Last I looked on a calendar it’s 2021 and if you subtract 1984 it comes up 37 year ago🤔 sorry it’s its way too much money for a DATSUN😂
It was Nissan anniversary, not the car’s.
My brother had the same vehicle. I thought it was also ugly .
How pathetic you people are for commenting on how ugly you think this car is. Seriously. There is something really wrong with you losers.
I traded my Custom ’79 Chevy van for this car for a weekend once with a friend. I still think it is an exceptionally good-looking vehicle!
I had a 1984, I raced corvettes at 180 to 190 you could see the corvettes in the rear view mirror, Turbo Blue was a big help.
