The Russo and Steel Collector Automobile Auction returns to Monterey, California, for the 21st year for another diverse, high-energy sale on historic Fisherman’s Wharf during Monterey Car Week.
The auction, held August 11-13, will be a live on-site event held in Russo and Steele’s unique “auction-in-the-round” format that places the cars on center stage with buyers, sellers and spectators seated in risers above the action.
“The auction continues to offer a collection of the highest-quality, most-luxurious and collectable European sports, American muscle, hot rods and custom automobiles suitable to satisfy any automotive desires, with both reserve and no-reserve automobiles,” according to the auction’s news release.
Every auction and event of Monterey Car Week, including the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, was canceled last year because of the pandemic, Russo and Steele among them. Most of those auctions and events are making their reappearance in August.
“We couldn’t be more excited to return to live auction action, with our jam-packed annual event in Monterey,” Drew Alcazar, auction president and CEO, said in the news release. “Not only does this represent a real and safe return to the collector car lifestyle that we all love so much, but the incredible selection of collectible automobiles we are unveiling this year are sure to dazzle every type of auto-enthusiast.”
Among the collector cars announced for this year’s auction are:
A 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition, which the auction company describes as an excellent example with a complete, professional “nut and bolt” restoration.
A 1970½ Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Ram Air III/4-Speed, 1 of just 1,769 built with the Ram Air III/4-speed powertrain.
A 1963 Chevrolet Corvette fuelie roadster, a matching-numbers car with rare fuel injection, a 327/360 horsepower V8 and 4-speed manual transmission.
A 1969 Shelby GT350 Historic SCCA B Production race car with period log books and FIA documents.
A 1996 Grand Sport Corvette Roadster, one of only 41 Red interior and F45 HiPerf Suspension-equipped examples.
