Mecum Auctions heads back to Texas this month for its 10th anniversary Houston collector car auction, taking place at the NRG Center on April 8-10 with 1,000 collector cars, trucks and a few motorcycles expected, many of them offered at no reserve.
Mecum’s last trip to Houston was in December, when sales resulted in a total of $14.7 million.
Among the star vehicles offered without reserves by Mecum for 2021 are a pair of low-mileage examples of Dodge modern performance, a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon with a mere 3 miles on its odometer and a 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Yellow Fever Edition pickup truck that has been driven just 2,555 miles.
Vintage no-reserve vehicles include a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere hardtop boasting a comprehensive frame-off restoration, as well as a restored 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop in turquoise and white. Also among the star offerings is a 1953 Buick Skylark convertible, an icon of early ‘50s design with just 1,690 produced.
As with all of Mecum’s live auctions, the Houston sale will be held with extensive pandemic precautions, including mandatory facemasks, social distancing, hand-sanitization stations and limited attendance. Mecum has enhanced its online auction presence with real-time streaming of bidding action. ouston
