2023 Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Preview

Time to create your dream sequence once again

-

It’s that time again another Barrett-Jackson auction is upon us. This time, this event is in Las Vegas on June 22-24, 2023. If you close your eyes and open your mind, you probably can imagine many of the cars that will appear in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center: upgraded vintage pickups, 1930s hot rods, Detroit muscle, tuner-bred late-model performance cars, and low-mileage retro exotics mothballed since new. That’s the state of the classic car world these days, and who am I to complain?

I know I’m not the only enthusiast who enjoys creating a dream sequence of vehicles, but mine will focus on delivering ideas for yours — call me the Dream Sequence Whisperer,  if you must. There’s bound to be one (or more) here to tickle your fancy, so which one(s) would you add to your sequence?

1966 Chevrolet C10 Custom Pickup
The color combination of Seafoam Green and white is a creative approach. In a world where “murdered” cars capture the limelight, this one pops out as full of good vibes. This short-bed pickup is powered by a slightly modified 5.3 LS paired with a dual MagnaFlow exhaust system with electric cutoffs, Velocity intake manifold and fuel rails, and color-matched Boyd Welding fuel tank. Inside you’ll find a full custom interior featuring Snowden Custom Seats, Lokar door handles and window cranks, and Bluetooth radio.

2003 Mercury Marauder Custom Sedan
When these came out, they were somewhat disappointing because the concept car’s 335-horsepower SOHC 4.6 gave way to a normally-aspirated DOHC version with 302 horses. Nonetheless, Marauders make for a nice canvass, as Jawanda Motorsports of Surrey, British Columbia, has demonstrated. Added features include a Kenne Bell supercharger, 90mm MAF sensor, 39-pound injectors, mid-length headers flowing into a cat-less exhaust system with H-pipe and MagnaFlows, Wilwood AERO6 big brake kit, and much, much more. Now, this is a Marauder fulfilled!

1951 Ford F-6 Cab-Over Custom Car Hauler
When you buy a car in Las Vegas, how will you bring it home? Here’s your answer! This F-6 has been mounted on a 1992 Ford B-Series bus chassis powered by a 7.3-liter diesel and five-speed automatic with overdrive. The custom-fabricated wedge bed features side storage compartments, slide-out ramps, and a new winch with remote control. As the platform is newer, the ability to enjoy modern conveniences and comforts (air conditioning, power brakes and steering, and stereo) is there for the long haul.

1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda 340
A Moulin Rouge ‘Cuda is a special thing. Not only is it one of the more outrageous colors from back in the day, it also is quite rare with approximately 150 built. But this one has an additional trick up its sleeve: the optional V4M fluorescent magenta strobe stripe. If that’s not enough, this ‘Cuda is a “two-tag” car with front and rear spoilers, rear window louvers, and hood pins. It’s not often you find an E-body (or any car) with such a desirable mix of options but, to be honest, it looks great too.

Diego Rosenberg
Diego Rosenberg
Lead Writer Diego Rosenberg is a native of Wilmington, Delaware and Princeton, New Jersey, giving him plenty of exposure to the charms of Carlisle and Englishtown. Though his first love is Citroen, he fell for muscle cars after being seduced by 1950s finned flyers—in fact, he’s written two books on American muscle. But please don’t think there is a strong American bias because foreign weirdness is never far from his heart. With a penchant for underground music from the 1960-70s, Diego and his family reside in the Southwest.
