Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1960 Chevrolet Corvette, which has been in the same family since new. Power comes from a bored-over 283ci V8 teamed with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include AM radio, electronic ignition, and new brakes and exhaust system, among others. Finished in tan over black and tan vinyl interior, this garage-kept C1 comes with the original hood, wheels, tires, dual-point distributor and removable hardtop, plus a clear California title in the seller’s name.
The tan exterior features a driver-side mirror, rear antenna, body-colored coves and California black plate. The seller states that the chrome is in excellent condition and the fiberglass body is in great shape aside from minor wear and tear. Due to previous engine fire damage from decades ago, the hood is not currently installed but it will be included with the sale.
A set of black 17-inch Foose wheels is wrapped in 215/50/ZR17 BFGoodrich radial tires.
The bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and are complemented by tan door panels and dashboard. Features include manual steering and brakes, AM radio and floor-mounted manual transmission shifter.
The instrument panel consists of a 160-mph speedometer, 7,000K-rpm tachometer and gauges for the fuel level, temperature, battery and oil pressure. The odometer reads 95,000 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
Power is provided by a 283ci small-block that was bored .030 over for 302ci and backed by a BorgWarner T-10 four-speed manual transmission. According to the seller, both are original and have been rebuilt. Engine bay features include rebuilt factory dual-quad Carter carburetors, aluminum intake manifold, finned aluminum Corvette valve covers and an MSD electronic distributor. The seller states that the engine backfired and caught fire in 1978, which lead to wiring and hood damage. After that, the Corvette was stored until 2020 when the seller inherited it.
This Corvette was originally equipped with an independent front suspension and solid rear-drive axle. Braking is provided by upgraded manual front discs and rear drums. The seller states that the brakes, brake cylinders, exhaust, gas tank and other mechanical items are new, though the shocks need to be replaced and an alignment should be performed.
