1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA

I used to think the Trans Am GTA was a T/A with the 350 engine but, apparently, if you wanted a manual transmission, you had to opt for the 305. Not necessarily a bad proposition considering that combo was as powerful as the 350 automatic.

2014 Ferrari 458 Spider

When these came out, I thought they were the best-looking Ferrari in ages, and I think it still stands tall over a decade later. I especially like the “tear ducts” that were missing in the 488 update. Plus, with over 32,000 miles, this one has been enjoyed the way it should.

1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata

I like the current crop of Miatas, but I wonder if the purity of the original is more profound? Sure, it’s not too fast, but MGs were not known for being speed demons either. I am not sure if I’d fit inside, but I’d enjoy trying to find out.

1952 Mercury Monterey

The “James Dean” Mercury ended in 1951, so this ’52 doesn’t quite resonate in comparison. However, it’s a Monterey two-door hardtop, which was Mercury’s style leader. With “Colorama” upholstery and a nifty dashboard, style could be found on the inside too.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z11 Pace Car

You may have thought Mopars owned the bright color thing, but then along comes this Camaro Indy pace car to disrupt your perceptions. This one has the 300-horsepower 350, which was found on most Super Sports.

1982 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz

My dad bought an 1982 Eldorado Touring Coupe new, so I am almost swooning except I continue to prefer the understatement of the non-Biarritz models. This one has the digital dashboard, which was cool to a kid like me.

1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie

I know 1959 Fords have their fans, but I haven’t been one of them. But when Ford added the Thunderbird roofline to the Fairlane and called it the Galaxie, it helped the look immensely. Plus, this Raven Black example has the 352 “FE” with four-barrel, so color me intrigued.

1979 Chevrolet K10 Silverado

Trucks today have gotten so soft! Who needs an iPad in the dashboard anyway? This Chevy is a real man’s truck! This Silverado ain’t for no soy boys! Just big and wide with those large knobby tires and four-wheel drive the way God intended.

1962 Chevrolet Impala SS

The 409 debuted in 1961, but when the Beach Boys were harmoniously waxing poetic, it was about this ’62. The new convertible-esque roofline was contemporary for the time, but I lean towards the Bel Air “bubbletop.”

2015 Chevrolet SS

I have a soft spot for these. They look more trim than an equivalent Charger, and you could get a stick with them. However, their styling was so bland — what was GM thinking? Nonetheless, these cars are desirable, fun to drive and, with 3,168, quite rare.
