No muscle car build is complete without a few special details, and this Nova is hot both inside and out – thanks to a set of flame-themed floor mats to go with the performance-tuned powertrain.
The Pick of the Day is a 1972 Chevrolet Nova SS listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Goodrich, Michigan.
“This is a very clean original-panel ’72 Nova, done in a slick Garnet Red,” the listing begins.
Restoration work for this car was comprehensive: The dealer states that new components were installed for the weather stripping, window felts, door handles, sideview mirrors, and hood louvers. The front and rear bumpers were re-chromed and some of the car’s original side trim and lights were re-used. Topping off the exterior look is hand-painted pinstriping throughout.
The compact Nova model – or, as it started out, the Chevy II – rode on the General Motors X-body platform and first went into production for the 1962 model year. By 1968, the car had already evolved into its third generation and rode on a larger 111-inch wheelbase compared to the prior version. In fact, the car’s chassis at that time was only one inch shorter than the Nova’s larger midsize sibling, the Chevelle.
This restored Nova comes from the final year of that generation in 1972, when the car received a few trim changes but was largely a carry-over otherwise.
Under the hood, the small-block 350cid V8 has been upgraded with an Edelbrock four-barrel intake, a four-barrel carburetor, an electronic ignition system, and a mild cam. Torque is sent rearward through a three-speed Turbo 350 automatic transmission and a 10-bolt limited-slip rear end along with a set of Rallye wheels and Cooper Cobra tires. Safe to say, this Nova sounds as good as it looks! The dealer has provided a four-minute video that showcases this car’s growl through the dual exhaust system.
The first thing we notice inside the cockpit is a set of flame-design carpeted floor mats which tie in nicely with the Garnet Red exterior. Options include lap belts, a B&M shifter, an SS steering wheel, a center console with an armrest, and an aftermarket 8,000-rpm tachometer.

Love it but my heart is still with my 67 Nova SS.Mot to say I would not have this car in my garage!!
Funny, the first thing I would do is get rid of those hideous floor mats, then invest in great manual tranny.
