Pick of the Day: 1969 Ford F100

A pickup with a SoCal soul

-

Surfboard in tow, this California pickup is ready to head to the beach for a day of fun in the sun. If only it weren’t November.

The Pick of the Day is a 1969 Ford F100 shortbed pickup listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Redondo Beach, California.

“Has a ton of vintage appeal with an almost time-capsule appearance,” the listing states. “I am the second owner; the truck has been in Southern California for its whole life.”

Ford’s fifth generation of full-size F-Series trucks first launched in 1967, riding on the same platform as the prior iteration but with revised styling and a larger cab. Federal regulations that were instituted in 1968 required the installation of side marker reflectors or lights, and in 1969, the grille was updated.

This California-kept, rust-free 1969 pickup was recoated in its original Boxwood Green and is said to display good overall exterior finishes with some wear as expected from an older repaint. Aesthetics continue to the complementary, red-finished steel wheels wrapped in newer Nexen tires.

Under the hood of this survivor is a 360cid FE V8 that was rated at 215 horsepower when new and benefits from some recent maintenance and upgrades. The engine has been resealed and refreshed, and a dual exhaust system was added per the seller. Power is sent rearward through a rebuilt automatic transmission, and handling is assisted via power steering and power brakes. “The way the big blue motor radiates in the dark engine bay tells you there have been plenty of recent investments here,” the listing states.

The interior has a color-matched vinyl bench seat, a custom steering wheel, and an AM radio that the seller states still plays baseball games over the speaker with clarity.

“The sale comes with the original title to help tell this unique classic’s story. Also included is the original black California plates the truck came with,” the listing reads. The ad doesn’t specify if the surfboard is included, but that would be a nice bonus, too.

The seller is asking $18,900 or best offer for this largely original, rust-free F-Series pickup.
