A special opportunity has surfaced for all the pony car enthusiasts out there: A 19,000-mile, 30-year-old Mustang 5.0 is being offered up from a private collection by its seller of 14 years.

“This beauty has been garage-kept since day one,” the listing begins. “The stunning rare Reef Blue paint is amazing, and the gray cloth interior is perfect. I’m 76 years old and I have owned this fabulous Mustang for 14 years as part of my collection.”

The seller has added 11,000 of the car’s 19,000 indicated miles and has “thoroughly enjoyed” each and every one.

While largely stock in configuration, this 5.0 has a few modifications to consider. Firstly, footwork comes via a set of chrome-finished 17-inch ROH wheels, and the drivetrain has a few tricks up its sleeve, too. The high-output V8 has been upgraded with performance equipment including 1.7-ratio roller rockers, SVO stainless-steel headers, and a Flowmaster exhaust system. Power is transferred rearward through an aluminum driveshaft and a positraction rear end, and the chassis was enhanced courtesy of aftermarket control arms.

5.0-liter V8 engine

This Mustang comes from the final year of the pony car’s third generation which had a lengthy lifespan, running from 1979 through 1993. The Fox platform provided underpinnings for this car along with many other FoMoCo vehicles of the era including the Granada, Thunderbird, and Cougar. Many Mustang enthusiasts subdivide this generation into two different ranges: the quad-headlight 1979-1986 cars, and the post-refresh 1987-1993 cars with composite headlamps. This Mustang represents the latter which demonstrates Ford’s “Aero” styling that was prevalent during the era.

The subsequent fourth-generation Mustang was launched in 1994 on a revised version of the Fox platform dubbed the SN-95. The change also brought more rounded styling and the exclusion of a hatchback variant. In fact, the Mustang has never been offered as a hatchback since, so this 1993 LX marks the end of its era.

“You will not be disappointed by the quality and care that this car has,” the listing concludes. The seller has provided a 30-second walkaround video showcasing the car’s exterior condition. I just wish he’d fired it up so we could hear those Flowmasters.

The asking price is $32,500 for this primo Fox Body.
