Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 two-door hardtop. It has been in the selling dealer’s family for approximately 40 years. Powered by a wide-block 318 V8 backed by an automatic transmission, this Coronet’s features include power steering, bucket front seats, center console, and AM radio. The metallic blue Coronet is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a clear Ohio title.
The exterior was refinished in metallic blue 15-years ago. Styling features include quad headlights, chrome grille and bumpers, full-length bodyside trim, trunk trim panel and dual taillights with integrated reverse lights. The selling dealer notes a few small dings on the hood.
Full wheelcovers complement the set of black steel wheels wearing Firestone FT70 whitewall radial tires. The selling dealer notes that the tires look like new.
The Coronet 500 trim level included standard front bucket seats. It and the rear bench were reupholstered in black vinyl 15 years ago. Features include black carpeting with black rubber floor mats, black vinyl door panels and trim, a center console with automatic shifter, black steel dashboard with matching dash pad and power steering. The selling dealer notes that the AM radio does not work.
A 120-mph speedometer, oil pressure warning light and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and voltage are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 84,933 miles but the true mileage is unknown.
Power comes from a reportedly numbers-matching 230-horsepower 318ci V8 engine, which was the first optional engine for the Coronet 500 in 1965, paired to the famous TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Underhood features include a closed-element air cleaner, cast-iron exhaust manifolds and windshield washer. According to the selling dealer, a new carburetor, plugs and wires were installed two years ago, and a new battery was installed last year.
This Coronet is factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and solid rear axle. A full-length, aftermarket dual-exhaust system exits at the rear. Braking is provided by manual drums. Additional underbody photos can be seen in the image gallery on the auction page.
