Barely two weeks ago after Hennessey debuted the Venom F5 Roaster at Monterey Car Week, the Texas-based company of speed and hyper-speed has announced that the new hypercar is going on a crusade to conquer the Europeans. The topless Texan will make its European debut at the Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace in the United Kingdom on August 31st.
As you may have read recently, Hennessey is staking claims that the Venom F5 Roadster is the world’s fastest and most powerful spyder. The Brits and Italians have been put on notice, and those other hypercar manufacturers in Sweden and elsewhere are about to learn how it’s done in Tejas.
“The UK is a very special market for Hennessey with London a major financial center and a hub for global travel, not to mention the passion and enthusiasm of European hypercar buyers,” comments John Hennessey, company founder and CEO. “The Venom F5 Roadster is obviously about extreme performance, but it also takes hypercars as an artform to a new level – so, the premium nature of Salon Privé is ideal for its European debut.”
At Salon Privé, the Roadster will join its Coupe sibling, though that one already sold out. Both share a 1,817 bhp twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter ‘Fury’ V8 engineered to exceed 300 mph.
Visitors of the Salon Privé event will have the opportunity to see the Venom F5 Coupe run as it takes part in the Hill Sprint on Sunday, September 4th. With 0-124 mph (0-200 kph) in just 4.7 seconds, the folks at Blenheim Palace will be asking, “Aston Who?”
Do you really need 1,817 bhp to transport one person all this sounds like a flop with London a major financial center .
Well Harjit, I think you’re missing the point here. These are not mere transportation but, rather limited edition works of art that are meant to be owned and enjoyed by the few able to do so. Most all of us are guilty of buying more than we need. Just at a lower economic level. My driver has 300hp (I personally can’t afford 1817hp!). Now, do I really “need” my 300hp? No. But I want it! Plus there are are other features my car has that I don’t really need like a multi-speaker sound system, and power this and that. And then, there’s the excess in the cloths we wear, the place we live, etc. I’d wager you own things that are more than you need too. It’s for the joy of ownership that we buy more than we “need”!
Sorry Harjit…wrong on both counts…this car is not just transportation. Also, given that the coupe version is already sold out, it would appear that it will not be a financial flop (even in London). This automotive segment is not privy to a vocabulary that includes “practical”, “sensible”, “value-oriented” and so forth that the rest of us inhabit.
What is the price tag on this and is it available to a select few? whats the production number on theses? Looks amazing
