Commemorative Callaway Prototype Hits Corvettes at Carlisle

Callaway Supercharged C8 development vehicle previews new package

-

Corvettes at Carlisle 2022 just concluded this past weekend. If you are one to poo-pooh the event because all the cars somewhat look the same, take it from someone who has previously been there that it truly is up to the quality of other Carlisle Events shows. If you want to give Corvette fans a first look at a development vehicle, there is no better place for Callaway to preview the Supercharged C8 Corvette package that commemorates Callaway’s relationship with the Corvette.

Yes, it’s been 35 years since that first “B2K” Callaway twin-turbo Corvette burst into the scene. The upgrade, available on order from your local Chevrolet dealership, cost $19,995 on top of the $27,999 coupe or $33,172 convertible. Only 184 people took advantage of the 345-horsepower monster (back when that much horsepower was off the hook).

Callaway Supercharged C8 Prototype

This special C8 will be built at Callaway’s facilities both in the Nutmeg State as well as in Temecula, California. The TripleCooled Supercharger System configured for LT2-equipped Stingrays is currently undergoing final engineering, emissions compliance testing and performance validation and should be ready to begin production at the beginning of next year. As such, this special Vette currently has no official horsepower ratings or even pricing.

Of course, being a Callaway Corvette, you’ll be able to purchase one at any Callaway-affiliated Chevrolet dealer. To boot, it’ll be backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile powertrain warranty that supplements the factory warranty. California residents take note: all Callaway Corvettes are fifty-state emission compliant.

The heartbeat of America

If you had an itchy trigger finger and already bought your C8, don’t fret as you’ll be eligible for conversion through what Callaway calls its “Second Chance” program.

Also, in commemoration of the 35th anniversary is Regular Production Option (RPO) “PCY.” Why the RPO is not B2K can only be explained by Chevrolet product planners, but the commemorative package will include carbon fiber aerodynamic tweaks, special Double-D exhaust system, forged nine-spoke wheels, Callaway interior group, certificate of authenticity and the famous Callaway warranty — all for $34,960 on top of the C8 base price.
