Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 Touches Down in America

One of the ultimate cars of the postwar era was the Lamborghini Countach. Ask any kid who grew up in the 1980s and he’ll swear it’s true. During an era where almost every vehicle was a disappointment, the Countach was the incarnation of hope. To commemorate the 50^th anniversary of the prototype debut at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini created a hybrid-electric model last year, with the first U.S. deliveries arriving last week during Monterey Car Week 2022.

The genesis of the new Countach is the 2019 Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, the first Lamborghini hybrid. The latter-day Countach features a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 producing 780 horsepower complemented by a 48-volt electric motor producing an additional 34 horses. A total of 112 are planned to be built, with the first two deliveries appearing at a private ceremony that was held at Lamborghini Lounge Monterey. They were painted the unusual hues of Luci Del Bosco and Bronzo Zante.

Lamborghini quotes 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds, 0-124 in 8.6 seconds, and a top speed of 220 mph. Those are numbers the original Countach could only dream about.
