Happy Friday and we are one step away from the weekend. It’s time to think back and remember the cool cars that your neighbors may have owned and even in adulthood you still retain the year, make and model.
So dear readers, What was your favorite car that your neighbors owned?
Let us know the make and model in the comments section.
A guy who lived around the corner from my childhood home had a Olds 442, w30. Washed it at least once a week and now I know why.
1970 Firebird Formula 400. Metallic blue.
Southwestern Ohio (suburb of Dayton) Mr. “T” owned a 1950’s era Jaguar 120. and Truimph. Originals…showroom conditions…as new/from new…not refurbished or “overhauled”…..only driven on sky blue cloudless southern Ohio days…… in the spring and summerof the early 60’s and fall into the 1970’s…… after removed as weather cleared from hermetically sealed container. I was allowed to ride along as I entered my teen years (1963)……and it was magnificent. I was offered the “right of first refusal” in purchasing if either one were to be sold by Mr. “T”………… Unfortunately……a marriage, and a family, was spending my money instead of being able to purchase my “dream”. I privately teared up as a man with means purchased both at the reading of the will auction…were loaded on a car carrier…and disappeared down the road. Both survive and are well cared for………
‘56 (I believe) Lincoln continental drop top 4 door with rear suicide doors. He ordered it from the factory custom colors lavender & white. That was in McMinnville Oregon in the mid to late seventies
Two houses down for me, my neighbor owned a 1958 Corvette, black with red interior…. Maybe that’s the reason why I own two Corvettes today!
1967 Ford 2 door Galaxie 500 2 door fastback, Aqua w black interior, 390
But no match for a bull on a road on a dark and stormy night
Either the 72 stingray or chevelle ss
A neighbor who lived across the street from me as I was just starting high school (in 1970) restored a 1953 Corvette, he had two of them (one was a donor car, of course) and when he the finished the car it was absolutely beautiful! He would drive it around the neighborhood occasionally, and I was so jealous!
Grew up in Alexandria VA around 1969 to 1975. A guy in the neighborhood who used to hang out at the McDonald’s on Rt.1 and Bobs Big boy in Alexandria had a 71 Boss 351. I always gravitated to Pontiacs, but the few times I got a chance to go out cruises with him couldn’t believe the power of that Boss.
My old neighbor bob had a really cool Mitsubishi 3000
4 neighbors. 68 Z, 70 T/A, 77 vette and an amphicar.
School buddy had a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner with a 440 six pack.
1958 Thunderbird, it was turquoise, belonged to the mom across the street who worked as a telephone operator. Her husband worked at a Ford plant nights. It was a few years old when he found it, but it was still a very nice car.
2 cars – guy down the street – not very friendly but owned a 62 corvette black/ red and
63 impala SS 409 burgundy. I asked if I could help wash or wax as I was 13 years old and he told me to “get lost kid” nasty guy but all is forgiven with cars like that in the driveway
Twin brothers 2 streets over from me in Philadelphia both had 61 Pontiac Venturas. Both light blue 389 4sp cars . Both bubble top hardtops..Realy neat cars.. I was 12 yrs. old.
1963 Split window corvette
My neighbors 66 Chevelle SS 396. Back in 1971 before I was not quite driving age.
