Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1994 Land Rover Defender 90. It is an upgraded North American-spec version that reportedly one of 1,943 imported into the U.S. for the model year. Originally bought in New York, it moved to Colorado in 1995 and then Nevada in 2021, where it is now being offered by the selling dealer. With the sale comes literature, manuals, both tops, service records, an ARB tire inflator kit, spare keys, a fire extinguisher, an electrical tow harness, a rear cargo mat, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Nevada title.

This Alpine White Defender 90 comes with a factory removable fiberglass hardtop, a Bestop Surrey top and Rovers North soft top. The exterior has been customized with black accents for the fender flares and other exterior trim. Other notable modifications include a Rockware front bumper (with receiver hitch points), Superwinch steel cable winch, Terrafirma rock sliders, and roof-mounted 55-watt Hella lights. The quarter panels wear protective diamond plate panels while you’ll find a spare tire with an ax/shovel carrier, custom two-inch hitch receiver and taillight guards out back.

Factory 16-inch aluminum wheels with Scorpion spacers are wrapped in new 285/70 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires at all four corners.

Up front, gray cloth bucket seats are topped by sheepskin seat covers; behind, you’ll find a fold-and-tumble bench. Amenities include air conditioning, Cobra CB radio, Tuffy center console, Panasonic AM/FM/CD head unit with door- and rear-mounted speakers, and air compressor.

Instrumentation is comprised of a 120-mph speedometer, 6K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary readouts for the fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 116,000 miles, which is supported by the CARFAX report.

The 3.9-liter V8 received new head gaskets at 104K miles and was serviced over the past two years with new parts including oxygen sensors, rear main seal, and resurfaced flywheel. In addition, the transmission case was re-sealed and the clutch was replaced. Service performed in June of 2022 included a 10,000-mile service including oil change, brake check, and an examination of the HVAC system. Power is fed via an R380 5-speed manual transmission plus two-speed transfer case. Plenty of upgrades including cooling fans with override switch and cold-weather starter.

3.9-liter V8 

The underside features Ashcroft alloy axles fore and aft, ARB Air Lockers, NRP stainless-steel exhaust system, skid plate, Rovers North fuel tank guard, and Safari Gard steering rod, among other upgrades. The suspension received new Bilstein shock absorbers as part of recent maintenance. The rear uses a Rockware droop kit with Rancho 9000 shock absorbers.

The CARFAX report shows a vehicle history free of accidents and damage. The sale includes spare keys, original manuals and literature, service records, ARB tire inflator kit, electrical tow harness, and much more.

This Land Rover’s auction ends August 16 at 12:20 p.m. (PDT).
