The golden age of muscle cars was coming to an end. New emission laws would lead to less horsepower, gas prices soared, and American car companies were ill equipped to deal with an influx of import vehicles. But despite these setbacks Chevrolet produced some pretty cool cars in the 1970s.

So dear readers, What is your favorite Chevrolet from the 1970s?

Give us your take in the comments section. Like my high school history teacher always told me, “There are no wrong answers.”

My Take? 1972 Monte Carlo

  1. Our 71 Camero was my favorite Chevrolet car, I bought it two weeks before we got married. In June 1971, My wife’s work car. I was driving my 59 356 A Silver, Red Interior Porsche Hardtop, and still driving it today. My Grandson will be driving it in a few years.
My wife’s daily driver now is a 2017 Ford Fusion Sport model. Lots of “ Get UP & Go”

    • Craig…. just so I know I read your comments correctly…… you mean to say that you’re still driving your 1959 Porsche since 1971? So, that’s 51 years of ownership of a 63-year-old automobile? Or did I get my math and reading comprehension all wrong? If, I’m anywhere near correct on the math I have to say that’s a pretty good testimony of automobile ownership…. to say the least!

  2. My wife’s navy blue with white interior ‘77 Camaro. She drove it literally until the drivers door fell off. Ohio winters were cruel to cars.

  3. My favorite is the 1973 Monte Carlo. I actually have two of them. The original one is a basket case. I bought another one this spring that is perfect with only 21,000 miles on it

  4. 1970 Monte carlo. I have one that has never had any rust. Dark metallic cherry with black vinyl top. Rebuilt 350. Bored .030 over 12 bolt posi. 700r4 transmission.

  5. 1973 Camaro RS LT 350 4bbl Auto in my opinion one of the best looking American car ever, sold it in 1978 still trying to find it and buy it back

  6. Going out on a limb here, Chevette. “Was the right car for the right time”, if it had fwd, would it still be around???

  7. I owned a number of Chevrolet products in the 70’s but my favorite head turner was my 1976 burnt orange Corvette.
I really wish I’d kept it.
