1975 Ford Gran Torino
The 1975 Ford Gran Torino in the ‘Starsky and Hutch’ TV show, with Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul | Walt Disney Television archive

It had a brief production run but the Torino was a Swiss Army knife for Ford with its numerous configurations from muscle car, sedan and station wagon. It was a supporting character in Starsky and Hutch and The Dude drove one in The Big Lebowski.

So dear readers, What is your favorite Ford Torino?

Give us your take in the comments section. Like my high school history teacher always told me, “There are no wrong answers.”

My Take? 1973 four-door, I have to abide with The Dude.

  1. I had a 71 Torino GT similar to the one pictured except mine didn’t have the hide away headlights and was white over green. It was a great car and remains my favorite to this day. Fast enough to be fun to drive and versatile enough to be a daily driver.

  2. I had a 1971 Ford Torino. 351 cleveland 2 barrel carb. Bought it with 40,000 miles for $2000 . Had the car til may of 1977. It had over 140,000 miles with very few issues. Loved the look and feel and power of the car!!!!!

  3. I had a ’72 Gran Torino Sport with the 351 C and Hurst 4 Sps. Exact same car…..down to the Color…..in Clint Eastwood’s movie Gran Torino. Still my favorite would be the NASCAR Torino with the 429 in it.

  4. bought a new 71 Torino GT….dark green metallic….no lazer stripe…..302 V-8….automatic…..awesome vehicle….turned heads every where I went ……kept it for 10 years before finally selling it to a teenager…..would love to have a 72 or 73….I would NOT want a Torino after 73….I think Ford got caught up in bigger is better

  5. Currently own 1968 Fastback GT per marti 1:374 Sunlit Gold black c stripes 302 2V 300 rear gear bench seats AT column shifted No hot Rod but a great cruiser @ 20 mpg

  6. As a retired cop I would LOVE to own a 72 Grand Torino with the Starsky/Hutch paint package as well as the red “teardrop” light! Plus our area hosts LOTS of car shows so it would be shown A LOT!!!

  7. 1968 / 1969 Torino GT fastback 428.

I fell in love with the first generation Torino GT fastbacks when they came out. They were plastered all over the NASCAR coverage in my auto magazines as a young teen. Then I met a kid a couple years older than me thathad a white GT fastback with red stripe and red interior. I’ve wanted one ever since!

  8. I owned a 1971 Pewter Metallic with Red Accents Summer Edition Torino, 351 Cleveland, Black interior with red trim accents. Great car
