I like modernizing classic cars with current conveniences. I’m 44-years-old with a history of back spasms and a modern suspension goes a long way with me. Going modern, or restomod, is a cool way to maintain a classic vehicle vibe, but it doesn’t have a punishing ride and probably has air conditioning, a must for we Phoenicians.
Call me soft, many have, but I loathe camping because I want my amenities and my views on classic vehicle ownership are similar. My classic C10 has an upgraded suspension to make sure it doesn’t drive like a Radio Flyer wagon and my spine loves it. When shopping for a classic car I look at the build quality, pedigree and creature comforts. As such, my Pick of the Day has those qualities.

“This Coyote-powered 1975 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT is a long-bed Styleside pickup acquired in 2005 and completely refurbished and modified,” the listing states. “The body was removed from the frame and all aspects of the vehicle were refurbished or replaced. Other than the original metal and bench seat, everything is totally new – drive train, fuel systems, wiring, air conditioning, upholstery, stereo, glass, and all interior and exterior vehicle parts.”
It rides on a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor suspension, differential, braking components, and steering system. This F-150 also features a Wildwood master cylinder, Viking Performance adjustable rear shocks, and chrome-finished 17″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels.
Under the hood is a new fuel-injected 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engine that produces a factory-rated 420bhp. The engine is paired with a Ford 4R70W Street Smart four-speed automatic transmission that has a Smart Shift controller.
“A Kenwood touchscreen stereo (DDX9906XR, bought in 2020) with wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility is linked to a JL Audio subwoofer, amplifier, and two-way component speakers,” the listing states. “In this small cab, the sound is incredible. Drive this classic truck through town with Apple Maps guiding your way and Spotify blasting your favorite road-trip playlist.”
The seller advises that the truck has been driven 2,500 miles since the renovation and an oil change, transmission fluid change and battery replacement were performed.
