Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction preview docket is now available. The docket is highlighted by KISS frontman Paul Stanley’s 2022 Chevrolet Corvette 3LT, VIN 001, Metallic Red Tint Coat convertible.

It is the first Corvette produced for the 2022 model year, and the winning bidder will also receive an autographed Ibanez PS120 Paul Stanley Signature guitar
“I want somebody to take this car and do whatever makes them happy with it, to enjoy it,” Paul Stanley said. “That’s really the keyword, I think, for any collector of anything — joy. And for me, my life has always been about the joy I can bring to other people. So here’s a car and a guitar. Go enjoy.”
Other early highlights include a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 and a Bloomington Gold Certified 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Split-Window, the first year of the Z06 option.
Barrett-Jackson is offering all three and their entire docket with No Reserve at the 2022 Las Vegas Auction, held June 30 to July 2 in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

A 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe has been sold for $143,000,000 (€135,000,000) at a private auction conducted by RM Sotheby’s and is now the most valuable car in the world. The sale surpassed the previous record of $70 million for a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO in 2018.
We asked Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, for his thoughts on the record-breaking sale. “It is indicative of the value of classic collectible automobiles across the board right now, and especially cars of that pedigree,” Jackson said. “The market is as hot as can be, and that particular Mercedes is a bellwether car. The collector car market is a place people are putting their money, and I think it will help raise the value for many other classic collector cars as well.”
This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe is one of two prototypes produced, and the car was sold from the Mercedes-Benz Classic Collection. Proceeds from the sale will be used to establish the “Mercedes-Benz Fund” that will provide scholarships in environmental science for students.
“We are proud that we can contribute with our historical collection to this initiative connecting the past with the future of engineering and decarbonisation technology”, says Marcus Breitschwerdt, Head of Mercedes-Benz Heritage. “The private buyer has agreed that the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé will remain accessible for public display on special occasions, while the second original 300 SLR Coupé remains in company ownership and will continue to be displayed at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.”
The Uhlenhaut Coupe is named after the head of Daimzler-Benz’s test department, Rudolf Uhlenhaut. It was developed for the 1956 racing season but was never used due to the company backing out of motorsports at the conclusion of the 1955 season.

If you’re a 007 fan and want the rare opportunity to get a car once owned by the first James Bond head to Monterey, California.
Sean Connery’s 1964 Aston Martin DB5 is available at Broad Arrow’s Monterey Jet Center Auction on August 18. This DB5 wasn’t in any James Bond movies, it was Connery’s personal Aston Martin, and is directly from Connery’s estate with proceeds benefitting the Sean Connery Philanthropy Fund.
“Dad used to talk about owning his own DB5, for no other reason than he loved the car,” Sean Connery’s son Jason Connery said in an interview with Hagerty. “He did tell me that driving the movie cars, all laden down with the gadgets, especially the machine guns in the front, made the car really front-heavy and turning at slow speed was a Herculean task, so driving without gadgets was a joy!”
Broad Arrow estimates that the DB5 will sell for $1,400,000 to $1,800,000 and three-time Formula 1 champion Jackie Stewart has offered a drive in the Aston Martin to the winning bidder.

Cars & Classic auctions is starting the Platinum Jubilee 2022 festivities with a 1993 Rover Sterling 2.7 that has a possible royal connection.
“This car was supplied new to Buckingham Palace, it was sold to its second owner – from the original Royally approved dealer – as ‘one lady owner’ and all the paperwork is there to back it up,” the listing states. “There is, owing to security, nothing that says the Queen’s name, but the framework and history is there. Plus, other cars supplied to Buckingham Palace say to whom they are going. This one is notable in that it doesn’t. It simply says Buckingham Palace.”
The auction starts on May 29, 2022, and the sale includes the original vehicle handbook, registration and service history, but it doesn’t truly verify possible royal ownership.
