2022 Hot Wheels Legends Tour schedule announced

The 2022 Hot Wheels Legends Tour launches its fifth year in April with online events in New Zealand (April 14) and Australia (April 21) and the first in-person show in Miami (April 30).

Subsequent in-person shows are scheduled for Houston (May 14); Atlanta (June 4); Northwest Arkansas (June 18); Detroit (July 9); Windsor, Canada (July 16); Ed Segundo, California (July 30); Indianapolis (September 10); Dallas (September 24); and Los Angeles (October 8).

At each event, a unique custom vehicle will be selected to advance to the global semifinals in October with global finals scheduled for November. At that finale, a car will be selected to become a 1:64-scale Hot Wheels die-cast.

Car builders can enter the competition through the Legends Tour website.

Hagerty links with StarterMotor

Hagerty has announced a partnership with StarterMotor, a UK-based charity “dedicated to enhancing education in the maintenance and use of historic, classic and modern classic vehicles.”

“There is a clear need to engage a new generation, to encourage them to take up careers in the historic vehicle industry and to enjoy historic cars,” StarterMotor chief executive David Withers is quoted in the announcement. “StarterMotor has partnerships with educational facilities, colleges and apprenticeship schemes and provides vehicles and other resources for their students to not only learn from, but also to use in competitions, events and shows.”

Added Mark Roper, managing director of Hagerty International, “Engaging the next generation of classic car enthusiasts has long been a key objective of Hagerty, and we already run a series of global education and promotional activities to do just that.

“Working with StarterMotor allows us to focus on the UK market, and we have a host of initiatives, soon to launch, which will excite and appeal to young enthusiasts.”

Enthusiast Tour is April 19-21 in Indiana

Worldwide Auctioneers stages its second Enthusiast Collector Car Tour, a driving event just before the auction company’s next sale. The tour is April 19-22 and the auction April 22-23.

The tour begins and ends at Kruse Plaza in Auburn, Indiana, and visits three car collections on April 20 and a performance shop and chocolatier company on April 21, when dinner features an “automotive speaker.” Tourists also will visit a classic car dealership April 22 before the start of the auction.

Spring Carlisle offers mini-SEMA

There will be a mini-SEMA Show at the Spring Carlisle event, scheduled for April 20-24 at the fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. 

The annual SEMA Show spans the entire Las Vegas Convention Center complex each fall. But in the spring, as part of Carlisle’s huge car show and swap meet, SEMA’s ARMO — the Automotive Restoration Market Organization — stages a “hot products” display at the Eastern end of the country.

Carlisle announces import-show features

Carlisle Events stages its annual Import & Performance Nationals show May 13-15, this year featuring BMW, the 30th anniversary of the Subaru Impreza, a special display of vehicles from the former Eastern Bloc of nations, of race-prepared vehicles, of Porsche, and of cars from the Rolls-Royce Foundation. 

Also planned are parades through the fairgrounds of the Datsun Z, of Volvos, and of racing dune buggies, that later group coming directly from the event to Pennsylvania.

Carlisle sets featured groups for GM Nationals

Carlisle Events has announced the featured displays for the 2022 GM Nationals, scheduled for June 24-25: 40 years of 3rd-generations Chevrolet Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds, 60 years of Nova/Chevy II, 40 years of S-10, and a Soliet-Lifter showroom.

Wings & Wheels show

The Yankee Air Museum at the Roush Aeronautics Center at the Willow Run field in Ypsilanti, Michigan, hosts its Wings & Wheels showcase of historic aircraft with rare automobiles from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on June 12.

In the meantime, the museum offers an historic presentation night on April 6, its fifth annual Bombers, Berries & Brews event May 7 and Wild Wednesday, a “driven-in air display featuring the CF-18,” on June 8.

1000 Miglia announces 2022 calendar

1000 Miglia 2022 has accepted 415 cars from more than 600 applications from car owners based in 31 nations. As usual, the event following its historic route from Brescia to Rome and back, this year launching on June 15.

But that’s not the only event being organized by 1000 Miglia. It also will host the 1000 Miglia Green for alternative-fuel vehicles, a Ferrari Tribute event, and will include supercars in the 1000 Miglia Experience Italia.

Other events include the Coppa delle Alpi, the inaugural Roads by 1000 Miglia (April 7-10) as well as the first Warm Up Switzerland (April 29-30).

The third 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA is set for October and the 1000 Miglia Experience UAE will be held in December.
