Featured on AutoHunterthe online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is a 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Macho Edition.

“This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am two-door performance coupe has covered 41,048 miles since new and is #56 of 96 total units produced in its configuration as a Macho Edition by brothers Kyle and Dennis Mecham for its model year,” AutoHunter notes in the listing.

Under the hood is an L78 400ci V8 engine with a 4-barrel carburetor, Hooker headers and dual exhaust. The engine is paired to a console-shifted 4-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Finished in gold metallic it features the iconic Firebird hood decal, extensive brown body accents, and a “Macho T/A” decal below the rear trunk lid.

“After delivery to its originating dealer, the car was customized as a limited-run Macho unit by brothers Kyle and Dennis Mecham as 1 of 96 for its model year,” AutoHunter states in the listing. “Macho-spec Firebirds were subject to cosmetic and mechanical upgrades for increased power, including a functional shaker hood scoop.”

It rides on cast aluminum snowflake wheels with BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised white-letter tires.

This Pontiac’s auction ends on April 1, 2022, at 12:20 p.m. (PDT).

The sale includes a clear Georgia title, a Mecham Design letter of authenticity, documentation, and a build sheet copy.
