Pick of the Day: 1952 Dodge B3 pickup truck lovingly restored

Beauty and authenticity seem to have been the goals for this attractive showpiece

-

The Pick of the Day is an immaculately restored 1952 Dodge B3 pickup truck, a former work vehicle that has been retired to a life of splendid repose. Lucky truck!

Fewer than 20 miles have been put on this truck “since nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration, highly detailed excellent rust-free truck, accompanied by a large file of restoration receipts,” according to the Rochester, Minnesota, dealer advertising the pickup on ClassicCars.com.

The restoration obviously was a labor of love rather than financial gain since, as the seller notes, “you could not come close to duplicating for asking price.”

Those of a more-capitalistic bent might ask, where’s the upside to this?  But one can’t dispute that the restorer has created a thing of beauty, an original-spec 70-year-old half-ton truck that is absolutely stunning in every respect. That seems to have been the main goal here.

“Every inch of this truck has been restored and it shows,” the ad says. “No disappointments.”

The truck has a solid history in the dry Southwest, the seller adds, with single ownership for its first six decades.

“Original Arizona truck local to the Tucson area its whole life with just 1 owner until 2013,” the seller says. “Powered by the original (flathead) 6cyl engine with 3-speed manual transmission and finished in Judson Green with Tan interior, beautiful wood bed, all new re-chromed bumpers, grille, bezels etc.

“New wiring, new weather stripping, rebuilt engine, chrome artillery-style wheels with whitewall tires.”

While most of the old trucks you see of this vintage are Fords or Chevys, the Dodge trucks had a strong role at the time on the farms and construction sites of the postwar era. The styling is simple but quite attractive to today’s collectors, and this one shows like a visitor from another dimension, with so much more perfection than was every dialed in at the factory.

The large galley of photos with the ad shows the extent of the refurbishing, with everything on the body, the interior, the underside, the frame, inside the wheelwells, the gorgeously finished wooden bed, all looking exceptional, like the truck had never touched a speck of dirt in its existence.  The color pallet is also lovely, looking both fresh and authentic.

The asking price for this very attractive Dodge truck is $34,900.

  1. Sienfeld would buy it and start driving it back and forth to work. He did that with a Volkswagen Beetle that had 12 miles on it.
